EARLY LIFE

✨Background

Born in a Ghanaian refugee camp amid Liberia's Civil War, I immigrated to the U.S. at one. Growing up across three states, I witnessed my resilient mom navigate adversity. My mother's persistent survival inspired me to be outspoken and protective of members of marginalized communities, similar to mine.

As a first generation high school graduate, I embarked on a transformative journey at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Originally drawn to journalism, my path shifted under the mentorship of Dana Bisignani propelling me into the realm of political advocacy. Joining Advocates for Youth, I spearheaded youth reproductive justice campaigns and later collaborated with influential organizations like Planned Parenthood and Girls for Gender Equity. After receiving two bachelors degrees, one in political science and the other in multimedia journalism, I worked primarily as a cultural liaison officer, early-policy researcher, gender justice storyteller, and youth reproductive justice advocate.

📽️ Fusing Multimedia Storytelling with
Social Justice

The tragic events of 2020 catalyzed my local organizing efforts and led me to a pivotal decision in my career pursuits. Recognizing the power of storytelling in enacting change–much like what I witnessed as an organizer in Minnesota during the Minneapolis riots, and as an early childhood policy consultant–I decided to pursue a master's at NYU Steinhardt's School of Media, Culture, and Communication. Upon graduation, I aim to fuse my skills in multimedia storytelling with my deep passion for social justice. As an influential film and mass media producer, I aspire to bridge communication gaps between communities and political leaders, advocating for systemic change.

In accordance with my advocacy efforts, I am a storyteller who has always been driven in this work by my passion to bring authentic stories to life. I believe storytelling is an important function of political advocacy, and I hope my work forever reflects this.
